Shell made a strong statement at the opening event of the Badiwars 5.0 season, producing impressive performances across multiple categories and finishing Hoodi Open with medals in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events. The standout names of the campaign were Shatakshi Shree and Mayur Karukonda, who led the charge with exceptional performances under pressure.


🏆 Shatakshi Shree Clinches Women’s Singles Title


Shatakshi Shree emerged as the biggest star for Shell by winning the Women’s Singles title in commanding fashion.

She began her campaign with a solid semifinal victory over Sannidhi (Target), winning 21-9, 21-17. In the finals, she faced top seed Kriti Yadav (Intel) in one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament.

After taking the opening game 21-10, Shatakshi was pushed into a decider but held her nerve brilliantly to close out the match 21-19 in the third game and secure the championship title for Shell.

Her composure, court control, and attacking gameplay stood out throughout the event.

🥈 Mayur Karukonda’s Outstanding Men’s Singles Run

Mayur Karukonda delivered another stellar tournament performance, reaching the Men’s Singles final with a series of impressive wins.

After advancing through the early rounds, Mayur defeated 8th seed Dadakhalandar Rampur (Morgan Stanley) in the quarterfinals with a confident 21-16, 21-11 victory. He followed it up with a strong semifinal win against Shiva (Target), winning 21-16, 21-15.

In the finals, Mayur faced Dikshith BR (Athletomatrix Pvt Ltd). Despite a valiant effort, he finished runner-up after a hard-fought campaign.

Mayur also impressed in Men’s Doubles alongside Barun Sharma, where the pair reached the semifinals after defeating Dell’s Karthik Venkatesh & Tarun Kumar in the Round of 16.

🥈 Ramanarajan B Produces Giant-Killing Run in 35+ Men’s Singles

One of the most remarkable stories of the tournament came from Ramanarajan B in the 35+ Men’s Singles category.

Entering unseeded, Ramana stunned top seed Ritwik Venkatesh (Oracle) in the quarterfinals after losing the first game, eventually winning 13-21, 21-14, 21-12. He then defeated 4th seed Sudhip Mohan (HCL) in straight games to secure a place in the finals.

Although he finished runner-up against Santosh Hirapur (CSG), his giant-killing run was one of the standout performances of the event.

Ramana also partnered Barun Sharma in the 35+ Men’s Doubles event, where the duo reached the quarterfinals after defeating Dell’s Avinash Yermal & Stallin Kamju.

🥈 Women’s Doubles Pair Dhanya Nair & Sonal Jena Reach Finals

Dhanya Nair and Sonal Jena showcased excellent chemistry in the Women’s Doubles category.

The Shell duo dominated Dell’s Khushboo & Sowmya Pavan in the semifinals with a commanding 21-10, 21-10 victory. In the finals, they pushed the top-seeded pair of Shruthi Raveendran (HPE) & Sameena Ajeeth (Genpact) but eventually finished runners-up after a competitive three-game battle.

Their aggressive net play and defensive resilience were key highlights throughout the tournament.

🥉 Strong Showing in Mixed Doubles

Vaibhav Singh and Pooja Nagpal represented Shell in Mixed Doubles and delivered a strong semifinal finish.

The pair comfortably defeated Tarun Kumar & Nikita Varshney (Dell) 21-7, 21-8 in the quarterfinals before bowing out against eventual champions Vivek Kumar (Brigade Group) & Shruthi Raveendran (HPE).

Their run added another podium finish to Shell’s tally.
