Brothers’ Day Out at Badiwars Monsoon Corporate Open

Brothers’ Day Out at Badiwars Monsoon Corporate Open

The Monsoon Corporate Open, the seventh tournament of the Badiwars 4.0 Corporate Badminton Championship, delivered one of the season’s most memorable storylines on September 27 at Coco Sports.

By the end of the day, two names stood tall across categories — Govardhan Shenoy and Sukhesh Shenoy — as the brothers combined for a rare double: Men’s Doubles champions, and Men’s Singles finalists, with the elder brother Sukhesh lifting the singles title.

It was a day where rivalry turned into partnership — and then back again.

Men’s Singles: A Family Affair at the Finish Line

The Men’s Singles draw unfolded with its usual depth and unpredictability, but as rounds progressed, one pattern began to emerge.

Both Shenoy brothers navigated their paths through the draw with authority.

In the Round of 16, Sukhesh Shenoy powered past Shaik Shafi, while Govardhan Shenoy handled Tarun Kumar Penta in straight games. The quarterfinals saw both brothers maintain control — Sukhesh overcoming Tony Alex, and Govardhan dispatching Nitendra Dhaker.

The semifinals delivered contrasting battles.

Sukhesh Shenoy produced a composed straight-games win over Harsha Kumar.

Govardhan Shenoy survived a stern three-game test against Vivek Kumar, bouncing back after dropping the opening game.

The final brought the brothers face-to-face.

In a match that swung momentum both ways, Sukhesh Shenoy edged Govardhan Shenoy 21–17, 18–21, 21–15, sealing the Men’s Singles title after a gripping three-game encounter.

Sibling rivalry had never felt more sporting.

Men’s Doubles: From Rivals to Partners

Earlier in the day, the brothers had already begun their joint campaign in the Men’s Doubles.

Pairing up once again, Govardhan and Sukhesh Shenoy moved confidently through the rounds, overcoming every challenge placed before them.

After commanding wins in the early rounds, the duo faced stiff resistance in the latter stages, including a competitive semifinal against Nitendra Dhaker and Krishnendu Dandapat.

The final proved worthy of the occasion.

Facing Dipanjan Saha and Harsha Kumar, the Shenoy brothers were tested across three tight games. Holding their nerve in the decider, they closed the match 21–18, 19–21, 21–17, securing the Men’s Doubles title and completing a remarkable double for the day.

A Rare Badiwars Moment

It’s not often that one tournament produces:

  • A Men’s Singles final contested by brothers
  • A Men’s Doubles title won by the same pair

And a storyline that spans rivalry, partnership, and mutual respect — all in a single day

The Monsoon Corporate Open offered exactly that.

As Badiwars 4.0 continues to build toward its season finale, September 27 will be remembered as the day when the Shenoy brothers owned the courts at Coco Sports.
