Badiwars 5.0 – Powerplay Open Delivers High-Intensity Corporate Badminton Action

The Badiwars 5.0 season continued with the Powerplay Open on May 23 at Powerplay Sports, Bengaluru, bringing together some of the strongest corporate badminton talent in the city. Players representing companies including Shell, Google, MindTickle, Samsung Semiconductor, IQVIA, Morgan Stanley, ZS Associates and more competed across singles, doubles and 35+ categories.

The event featured several close three-game battles, upset victories and dominant championship performances as players fought for crucial ranking points early in the Badiwars 5.0 season.

Men’s Singles Results

MindTickle’s Suryansh Jaiswal continued his dominant run on the Badiwars circuit by clinching the Men’s Singles title with a commanding 21-14, 21-16 victory over Nabarun Kalita of ZS Associates in the final.

Suryansh survived one of the toughest matches of the tournament in the Round of 16, edging past Krishnendu Dandapat in a thrilling three-game contest 21-19, 19-21, 21-19.

Nabarun Kalita impressed throughout the draw, including a semifinal victory over Shell’s Mayur Karukonda.

Women’s Singles Results

Google’s Shraddha Gole produced a brilliant comeback performance in the Women’s Singles final to defeat top-seeded Shatakshi Shree of Shell 21-20, 12-21, 21-8.

After narrowly taking the opening game, Shraddha recovered strongly in the decider with aggressive attacking badminton to secure the title.

Men’s Doubles Results

The top-seeded pair of Shaik Shafi (IQVIA) and Amarnath Bansethi (Rockwell Automation) lived up to expectations by winning the Men’s Doubles crown.

The duo defeated Mohit Kumar and Sudhip Mohan in the final 21-11, 21-19 after a consistent run through the knockout stages.

The champions showcased excellent chemistry and attacking control throughout the event.

Naveen Kumar emerged as the standout performer in the 35+ Men’s Singles category, defeating Ravi Dewangan in the final 21-12, 21-13.

Naveen also recorded a major upset victory over second seed Ramanarajan B in the quarterfinals.
