Between deadlines and dropshots... the art of balance

Between deadlines and dropshots... the art of balance

Some games don’t end when work begins.

They simply move to a different court.

Balancing a high-pressure career with a commitment to sport hasn’t been easy — but it has shaped how I think, train, and grow.

I work as a Product Manager in the healthcare industry, building products designed to make a real difference in people’s lives. The work is demanding, structured, and often intense. But outside office hours, you’ll usually find me somewhere very different — on a badminton court or inside a CrossFit gym, chasing another kind of progress.

The Court as a Classroom

Badminton has been a constant through different phases of my life. I’ve competed at the state level, and the sport taught me lessons that no classroom could — resilience under pressure, strategic thinking, and the value of precision.

On court, decisions are instant. You commit, adjust, and live with the outcome. Over time, I realised how closely this mirrored my professional life — breaking down problems, making quick calls, and staying calm when margins are tight.

🏸Strength Beyond the Shuttle

Fitness has always been my anchor.

Alongside badminton, I train seriously in CrossFit — sessions that test strength, endurance, and mental toughness. The grind isn’t glamorous, but it’s transformative. CrossFit has sharpened my movement on court, strengthened my recovery, and built a level of discipline that carries into every part of my day.

Some days, the gym is harder than the match.

Other days, the match is harder than work.

Both demand presence.

⚖️Balancing Acts

Managing work, sport, and personal growth hasn’t followed a perfect routine. There are trade-offs. Late nights. Missed sessions. Tough weeks.

But the desire to improve — professionally and athletically — keeps pulling me back.

The satisfaction of a well-executed product launch. The thrill of a close badminton match. The quiet win of finishing a tough workout when motivation is low. These moments don’t compete with each other. They reinforce each other.

Still Playing 🏸🏸❤️

This journey isn’t about choosing between career and sport. It’s about letting each sharpen the other. The game isn’t over.

If anything, it’s just getting started.
